We’ve got a second webinar lined up on cloud computing, and this one’s pretty special.

Most of the folks I talk with about clouds are concerned about trust. They use words like “security” and “compliance” and “governance”, but what they mean, deep down inside, is that they don’t trust other people to do the right things at the right times.

They probably have good reason. And next week, we have one of the smartest people I know on the subject joining us for our second webinar on Canadian Cloud Roadmaps.

Nolan Goldberg is a prosecuting attorney at Proksauer, and he’s unbelievably well informed on intellectual property, information discovery, and legislation around data protection. He’s helped me out at Interop and elsewhere, and he’s always one of the top-rated speakers — one attendee told me afterwards that she felt she should have been billed for an hour at lawyer rates, given how much she learned.

Next week will be no exception. To prepare a distinctly Canadian take on the subject, Nolan’s spent some time looking at the laws that affect Canadians when their data is elsewhere, and the state of laws in Canada. I’ve seen his slides, and they’re packed with concrete data and invaluable insights. I hope you can join us.

The Canadian Cloud Roadmaps series is something Bitcurrent is running with other Cloud organizations in Canada. We don’t charge money for it, and we’re not getting paid to do it; we just want to advance the discussion and understanding of cloud computing.
